How to Protect Bone & Joint Health
In my last article, you
learned about the causes of some of the most common bone and joint problems. Because I mentioned vitamin D,
calcium and other minerals, you might have thought that a supplement containing those ingredients is the answer.
But supplements alone are not the answer.
It is likely that you do
need a supplement, but you must be very careful to select the right one. Otherwise the calcium could be
deposited in the wrong place and end up contributing to clogs in your arteries. Here you will learn
about the things you should do to protect your bone and joint health. You will also learn how to choose the best
bone and joint supplements.
If you know much about
nutrition, you may be able to spot problems in your diet. You may know that you fail to eat enough fruits and
vegetables on a regular basis. You might have gotten out of the habit of drinking low fat milk or other dairy
products as the years have gone by.
The importance of a healthy
diet for strong bones cannot be over-emphasized. Not only for the health of your joints, but for your
cardiovascular health, too. Your daily diet should revolve around fish, nuts, whole grains (oatmeal and brown
rice—not bread), fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy. You should avoid processed and refined foods. If you eat
enough of those other things, you won’t have room for the processed stuff anyway.
Your current state of health
may dictate how much or how little you can exercise, but if you want healthy bones and joints, you absolutely
must exercise. Walking is wonderful, but in this case, you want weight-bearing exercise or resistant training.
You can perform those exercises with elastic bands, hand weights or exercise machines. If your bones are in a
really bad state already, please consult your physician about an appropriate exercise
routine.
Supplements are not a
substitute for a healthy diet. You cannot rely on supplements to protect you if you continue to eat unhealthy
foods on a regular basis. On the other hand, diminished nutrient absorption and diminished appetite are a
natural part of the aging process. So, you do need supplements. Here’s what the supplement should contain:
·
Vitamin C—necessary cofactor for the production of new joint
cartilage
·
Vitamin D3—the best form, necessary for strong bones and
joints
·
Calcium
·
Vitamin K2—directs the calcium to the bones and out of the
arteries
·
Magnesium—another mineral stored in
bone
·
Mangosteen—a tropical fruit extract proven to be beneficial in osteoporosis and
painful conditions like arthritis
·
Boron—a trace mineral that helps reduce loss of calcium from
bones
·
Lycopene—an antioxidant found in tomatoes; shown to support bone
density
You could find each of those
single ingredients and take a handful of supplements every day, but that is not a good idea. The dosage would
need to be just right or you could do more harm to your health than good.
The only supplement on the
market that contains all of those nutrients, as well as other synergistic ingredients, is Bone Protec . Quite simply, it is the best solution for protecting
your bones and joints.
