How to Improve
Memory Power and Concentration
In my last article, you learn about the possible
causes of memory loss and an inability to concentrate. You may be able to rule out many of them. Increased nutrient intake can help
address all of the causes. Even aging is a more pleasant process when nutrient intake is
optimal.
All nutrients are important, but some are more important than others. The ones
listed below have proven to be beneficial for improving brain function. You will see a few herbs listed below,
because sometimes they help, too.
Omega 3 fish oil is a source of the essential fatty acids DHA or Docosahexaenoic
acid and EPA or Eicosapentaenoic acid. DHA and EPA are necessary for normal brain development and function. Fish
oil is the only supplement that provides both DHA and EPA. DHA and EPA rich fish oils have proven to be beneficial
for attention deficit disorders and may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Lack of concentration solutions may work in different ways. Sam-e works by making
the methylation process more efficient. Neuro-transmitters carry and store memories. They must be methylated in
order to be activated. Sam-e provides the activation key. It is not always effective, because it is not always
properly prepared.
Two of the causes of memory loss mentioned in my last article were aging and
Alzheimer’s disease. One of the causes of cellular aging throughout the body is glycation. Advanced glycation
end-products are a cause of Alzheimer’s. L-carnosine helps prevent glycation and the formation of advanced
glycation end products. None of the other lack of concentration solutions can do that.
Gingko biloba is commonly recommended to prevent memory loss and improve the
brain’s ability to store new memories. It is also one of the lack of concentration solutions. It has proven to be
useful in attention deficit disorders. It works by improving circulation in the tiny capillaries of the
brain.
Milk thistle extract is the only one of the lack of concentration solutions that
addresses a specific cause. That cause is exposure to toxins. Milk thistle can help repair damage done to the liver
by drugs and other toxins. As liver function improves, the body’s ability to rid itself of toxins improves. So, if
taken on a regular basis, milk thistle extract may help prevent memory loss and improve overall brain
function.
- A Good Supplement
Regimen
There is no silver bullet for restoring or improving brain function. While all of
the natural products mentioned above may be described as lack of concentration solutions, a combination of
nutrients is needed to protect and repair damage to brain cells and neurons.
In order for the body to produce necessary neuro transmitters, a variety of
nutrients are needed. So, while the herbs mentioned above may seem to be magic pills in some company
advertisements, alone, they will not provide the benefits you seek.
The real solution for memory loss and inability to concentrate is a good supplement regimen. A
strong nutritional foundation, combined with beneficial herbs is the answer. Alzheimer’s – What May Help?
